Entre el estado y la frontera : aportes para una historia regional del Chocó (1890 - 1947)

Abstract

RESUMEN: Indefectiblemente, cuando se habla del Chocó de la primera mitad del siglo XX, se alude a la situación económica de la región y de sus paradójicas circunstancias respecto a la extracción y aprovechamiento de recursos humanos, naturales y sobre todo mineros, sin citar a las gentes que históricamente aportaron a la consolidación de actividades que modificaron los entornos ambientales y sociales a través de la acción antrópica (en planos tan diversos, como, entre otros, la inversión económica, la infraestructura y la complejización de las interacciones sociales que acarreó el advenimiento del creciente flujo del capital dinero). El presente trabajo investigativo se propone, por tanto, abrir perspectivas de análisis para estudiar imaginarios, discursos, actuaciones y reacciones que insuflaron vida al contexto chocoano por medio de la diversidad étnica, social y cultural que se enmarca en ciertas instituciones como la Provincia del Chocó, el Estado soberano del Cauca (del cual hizo parte la región chocoana durante gran parte del siglo XIX) y la Intendencia del Chocó. Temporalmente el punto focal del estudio es, en suma, la transformación del Chocó desde 1890 como entidad político-administrativa bajo la tutela del Estado Soberano del Cauca, hasta su constitución como Departamento en 1947. ABSTRACT: Indefectibly, when talking about the Chocó region from the first half of the twentieth century, the economic situation of the region and its paradoxical circumstances regarding the extraction and use of human, natural and overly mineral resources is usually referred to, without quoting the people who historically contributed to the consolidation of activities that modified the natural and social environments through anthropic action (on such diverse levels, as, among others, economic investment, infrastructure and the obfuscation of the social interactions that brought about the advent of the growing flow of capitalmoney). The present investigative work is therefore intended to open perspectives of análisis in order to study imaginaries, discourses, actions and reactions that insufflated life into the chocoan context through ethnic, social and cultural diversity that is part of certain institutions such as the Province of Chocó, the sovereign state of Cauca (of which the chocoan region took part for much of the nineteenth century) and the Intendence of Chocó. Temporarily the focal point of the study is, in short, the transformation of the Chocó region from 1890 as a political-administrative entity under the tutelage of the Sovereign State of Cauca, until its constitution as a Department in 1947
